Briefly reading Calvino’s descriptions of his “invisible
cities” creates my own renditions in my mind of what they would look like. I
have begun by compiling two influence maps that roughly translate the visions,
as well as take components from the cities to see what else can be created
from a root shape, form or style; for example "pilings", "the spider web city" and "Zirma's cobblestones are black". I am looking forward to creating many thumbnails and explore each of Calvino's spectacular descriptions.
